Year 6 SATs Intervention Teaching Assistant in Cardiff

An opportunity has just opened up for a teaching assistant to join one of our partner Primary schools located in Ely on a long term and full time basis to work within their Year 6 class. The school has recently been removed from the list of schools requiring special measures by Estyn, thanks to its improvement on all areas monitored in the past two years.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within a Primary school setting (or Key Stage 3) and/or experience tutoring English and Maths to students of all levels. You will ideally be in possession of an Education related qualification or a degree in Maths, English, Modern Foreign Languages, Psychology, Drama, History or Geography. You must be energetic, enthusiastic, eager to learn, punctual and have a strong team ethic to work alongside other staff members at the school.

The Senior Leadership Team of the school take pride in their strong values to help each child reach their full potential before they leave the Primary stage to join Year 7. The ideal candidate will provide support to the teacher by helping out in a full classroom setting, along with supporting children on a small group or one-to-one basis at times.

This opportunity will suit a future teacher looking to start their teacher training in the upcoming months or years, or an experienced teaching assistant looking for a new challenge. You will be working Monday to Friday from 8:30am to 4pm during term time. The successful candidate will be contracted up until the end of the academic year with a strong chance of becoming permanent at the school.

The starting pay rate for this position is £8.41/hr (based on a 6 hour work day inc. morning, lunch and afternoon breaks) with strong development opportunities.

What else?

- You must be in possession of an up-to-date CHILD WORKFORCE DBS (registered on the Update Service) or willing to apply for one (full assistance provided).

- We are only able to accept applications from UK residents with a proven right to work in the UK. You must living in Cardiff and/or have plans to move to Cardiff in the near future and/or be willing to travel to the Cardiff area.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
