Year 5 Teaching Assistant

The Head Teacher of a primary school in Oswaldtwistle are seeking an enthusiastic teaching assistant to support the Year 5 class. This is a full-time role to begin from January 2021 for the full academic year. You will be working alongside an experience teacher and supporting a class of 30 children. The majority of the children are working towards age related expectation and the behaviour from the cohort is good. The Head Teacher has stated they are looking for an individual dedicated to the progression of the pupils socially, emotionally and academically.

What will a working day look like?

Generally, your duties may include (but not be limited to):

  • Delivering tailored teaching activities to pupils on either a one-to-one basis or in small groups in Year 5.
  • Ensuring that the pupils you support are able to engage in learning and stay on task during the lesson or activity.
  • Supporting the social and emotional development of pupils, reporting any issues when required.
  • Supporting the teacher in managing challenging pupil behaviour and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Listening to pupils read and read to pupils on a small group or one-to-one basis.
  • Leading small group interventions with targeted children, focusing on Maths and English.
  • Carrying out administrative duties, such as preparing classroom resources.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
