Year 5 and 6 Teaching Assistant

A primary school in Oswaldtwistle have approach Teaching Personnel as they need a KS2 teaching assistant to provide support within the Year 5 and Year 6 class. The role is full-time and to start in April 2021. As you would be covering a gap in staffing the role is until the end of the academic with a view to becoming a permanent position.

You would be spending your time in mixed Year 5 and 6 class supporting children working below age related expectations to give them a boost in Maths and English. You would also work specifically with the Year 6 pupils and be you would be focusing on lost learning and preparing the children for the transition to high school in September 2021. Your weekly timetable, would be split in terms of general teaching assistant and then intervention teaching assistant. During the morning sessions working with small groups of children in the class and then leading intervention sessions in the afternoons outside of the class.

You would be working alongside the very experienced class teacher within the Year 5 and 6 class. The class teacher would plan the majority of the intervention sessions and you would regularly meet with the class teacher to discuss curriculum coverage/ objectives and next steps.

The Head Teacher is looking for the following:

  • Level 2 or above qualification
  • A confident and experienced Primary Practitioner
  • Experience within Key Stage 2
  • Keen to commit to a long-term role
  • Confident to deliver booster/ intervention sessions

You must be available to take up a full-time teaching assistant role to start on Monday 19th April 2021 until the end of the academic year with a view of a permanent contract for the next academic year. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 31st March 2021.
