Year 4 ADHD Support Assistant

Mainstream Primary School in Skelmersdale

30 hours per week (6 hours per day)

1:1 Support role

The Headteacher of an average sized Primary School in the twon of Skelmersdale are looking for a Teaching Assistant to start on a temporary basis in school. The role will be to support an individual child in the LKS2 classes who requires full time support to enable him to work in class with the other children. The support will be in place all morning and afternoon with the child and the sole purpose of this appointment will be to support the behaviour and academic of the individual child to ensure good progress is made and their needs are met every day. The Head teacher is well driven and the SLT are keen to further prepare the school to receive an OUTSTANDING grading and so any new members of staff need to be prepared. This role will initially begin from Tuesdsay 23rd April and continue on a probation period up until the July 2019 following the Lancashire Holiday pattern.

Based on the conversations with the Head teacher and SENCO in school, we are aware of the individual child's needs. The child in question is in Year 4 and currently working below age related levels. It is therefore important that the successful candidate has prior experience in education or care settings supporting children and or adults with aggressive behaviour. There is also a need for the successful candidate to approach the child in a nurturing manner but also one which sets fresh boundaries. The head teacher has mentioned that it would be good to appoint a TA who is a natural around children and can easily transition when the child is aggressive.

The role does have the potential to run into the 2019/20 academic year and potentially until the child finishes school dependant on how well the child engages with the support.

Registration with Teaching Personnel is very efficient but does rely on the applying candidates to hold a valid DBS on the update service; two education or care setting references to be graded and other qualification and document confirmation. If you are unsure of how this role will work with an agency, or you have any reservations then please see our recent GOOGLE reviews or check the Teaching Personnel website. Pay will be discussed at the interview stage as will the name of the school and other work related issues. Please contact me in the office for further information.
