Job description
This vacancy has now expired. Please see similar roles below...
An exciting long term opportunity has arisen in a Christian school in Darwen, located central to the high street. The school offers a warm welcome which is emphasised through the leadership of the Head teacher in school. The school is set up to support children arriving from a mixture of backgrounds with Ofsted noting that the number of disadvantage children is above average as well as the children with special educational needs. With this taken into account, the school are looking to appoint an experienced and dedicated teacher who will commit to the role and improve standards in the classroom. As challenging as the children may be, there is still a rich community spirit in school which is emphasised in the day to day working of the school; with family liaison officers and behaviour mentors working effortlessly to ensure the children are able to meet their expected age related levels and progress. The Lancashire Central Primary team are always keen to here from experienced teachers so don't hang around to contact us further.
The role will commence from as soon as possible, as the departure of the current year 4 teacher is imminent. The current member of staff is working on a supply basis however they are relocating to a new area and so there is little notice. The role will continue for the full academic year on a full time basis with the view to securing a permanent role in the next academic year. You will be given PPA time to plan and assess the children in order to make expected progress. You will also be expected to feed up any progress to the Head teacher and SENCO in school who will use assessment information to develop other learning opportunities. This area of Darwen is socially deprived, which has led to a number of parents and guardians not fully supporting the development of their children in school- With this, the Head teacher has worked on bringing the families closer to the school through family fun days and coffee mornings where the parents are given the opportunity to have a voice. The school have seen the results in attendance and behaviour improve since this incentive and so it will be important that the applying candidates are keen to continue the good work, in the local Darwen area.
KS2 experience is essential with this role, preferably LKS2.
Qualified Teacher Status is also a necessity.
Working in a school previously with a challenging catchment are is important but only preferable.
The school does hold a strong Christian ethos and so it is important that the applying candidates are able to support this in every day life across the school.
Please contact me for further information on the role. I am contactable by email or by telephone in the office
