Year 2 Intervention Teaching Assistant

Job Type: Part time (Monday - Friday, mornings)

Rate of pay: £9.50 - £11.50 per hour

Start date: Monday 7th October 2019

End date: October 2020

An larger than average sized Primary school situated in Oswaldtwistle has approached Teaching Personnel in order to source a year 2 teaching assistant. This is a part time position which consists of every morning, five days a week. This school requires a teaching assistant in year 2 as the current member of staff will be on maternity leave. You would be needed from Monday 7th October until the following October 2020.

They are hoping to find an enthusiastic individual who can offer additional support to year 2 pupils. The main purpose of the role is to support the children in year 2 that require a boost in Phonics, English and Maths. You would be working with a small group of children outside of the classroom during the morning sessions. As you would be preparing children for the Year 2 SATs and Phonics Screening resit therefore it is important you have good subject knowledge in these areas. Being familiar with the Phonics Schemes of work is desirable. You would be liaising with the class teacher regarding the content of the intervention sessions and there would be allocated time during the week to plan with the class teacher.

The Head Teacher is looking for the following:

  • Level 2 or above qualification
  • Experience in the KS1 primary setting
  • Confident with delivering engaging interventions
  • Ability to work independently or part of a team
  • Superb behaviour management
