Job description

Are you experienced teaching in year 1? Do you have a good knowledge of phonics? Are you experienced supporting pupils through their phonics screening?

If so teaching personnel is currently working with a 'Good' school located in the Atherton area of Wigan, who are currently looking to appoint a year 1 class teacher to start from Easter, continuing until the end of the summer term, possibly leading to a permanent role for the right teacher. Pupils at the school have been described by Ofsted as 'Pupils are studious and conscientious. They have highly positive attitudes to learning, enjoy helping each other and work well together. Pupils are increasingly resilient, regularly demonstrating their confidence to share ideas and learn from their mistakes.' The school are therefor looking for someone who is able to continue to have a positive impact on pupils learning, providing them with the skills in order to make outstanding progress. The school is smaller than average with small class sizes and is located in the Atherton area and can be easily accessed via Bolton, Wigan, Salford, Radcliffe and Leigh.

In order to be successful you will need to:

  • Have a strong knowledge of the Year 1 curriculum.
  • Have a minimum of a one year experience working within Year 1.
  • Have a strong phonic knowledge.
  • Be able to demonstrate good practice, ensuring that all pupils are able to make progress.
  • Be adaptable and able to meet the needs of all children in order to create an inclusive environment, in order to enable all pupils to succeed.
  • Be a good communicator
