Year 1 Teacher - M19

A much larger than the average-sized primary school are looking for a Year 1 Teacher who can start after the October half term. The area the school is located in is very multi-cultural and multi-ethnic and this is reflected in the population of pupils that attend the school.

As a result the proportion of pupils who speak English as an additional language is also very high.

However, pupils make a good level of progress at this school and are eager to learn. Teaching is good and teachers have high expectations of pupils and use a wide range of strategies to involve and motivate pupils.

The school strongly believe in providing their children with exciting, creative and meaningful learning experiences, which build their enthusiasm for learning and challenge them to achieve.

Currently the school are looking to recruit a Year 1 Teacher who can:

• Provide clear structures for lessons and for sequences of lessons, which maintain pace, motivation and challenge for a diverse ability year 1 class.

• Make effective use of assessment information on pupils' attainment and progress and in planning future lessons.

• Ensure effective teaching of whole classes, groups and individuals, establishing high expectations of behaviour and attainment, so that teaching objectives are met.

• Monitor and intervene when teaching to ensure sound learning and discipline and maintain a safe environment in which pupils feel confident.

• Use a variety of teaching and learning styles to keep all pupils engaged.

• Be familiar with the Code of Practice and identification, assessment and support of pupils with SEN.

• Evaluate your own teaching critically to improve effectiveness.
