The role
The school need a teacher to take the class from Christmas 2021 to the end of the academic year as their full-time class teacher is taking extended maternity leave. The role is full-time with relevant PPA time allocated as per any class teacher role. The school are open to a Newly Qualified Teacher.
The class
The behaviour at the school is on the whole good, and the children are polite and conscientious. As this will be the first time children sit and do formal learning behaviour may be challenging to manage, especially after the lengthy break from school they will have faced. The school would like someone who can be firm but fair with these children and get them back into a school routine as soon as possible, as this is the most effective means of keeping them on task, so the school needs someone who is confident in their behaviour management of young pupils. Experience with phonics screening is essential to ensure pupils are at their correct level of learning and development prior to their kS1 SATS in year 2. There is a dedicated Teaching Assistant in the class who is available every morning to support and some afternoons during the week.

The school is a 2-form entry catholic primary school in HG1 which is a GOOD school. The Head Teacher has been at the school for the last 3 years, so knows the school well and has established a good and enthusiastic staff team.
