Year 1 Teacher
A primary school in Accrington

Salary: GBP100-GBP130 per day
Start date: January 2021
End date: July 2021
Teaching Personnel are currently looking for a passionate and creative class teacher on behalf of a primary school in Accrington. The role is to cover a temporary gap in staffing within school. The Head Teacher is looking for a candidate who can commit to the part time role from January 2021 until the end of the academic year. The Head Teacher is looking for an individual who has experience supporting children in the preparation for Phonics Screening Check.
The class you would be teaching are average sized with a mixed catchment of white British and Asian heritage. The school is situated in a socially deprived area so many of the pupils come to school working well below Age Related Expectations in Reading, Writing and Maths. You must be able to adapt your teaching approach in order to meet the needs of all the learners. In response to a number of the pupils still require additional support, the school have employed part time teaching assistants who work across EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2 who plan and deliver small group and 1:1 interventions out of the classroom. The Head Teacher has commented that they want to employ a candidate with a proven track record of raising attainment.
To be considered for the role, you must have:
- Experience delivering the Year 1 curriculum
- Excellent classroom practice
- Knowledge of the Letters and Sounds scheme of work
- A confident approach, knows how to adapt well in different situations
- PGCE (or equivalent)
- Knowledge of the National Curriculum
- Good behaviour management
