General TA role and Behaviour Support Role - LEYLAND PRIMARY SCHOOL

I am currently looking to recruit two individuals to work in varying job roles in the same school from September 2018. The school in question is graded GOOD by Ofsted and has a committed and hard working Head teacher leading the school. The children who attend school tend to arrive from socially deprived backgrounds and so it is important that any member of staff who is new to school needs to have strong behaviour management and a range of techniques in order to deal with challenging children.

The two roles are as follows;

  • Teaching and Learning Support Assistant. This will be a full time position in which the successful applicant will be expected to work a minimum of 30 working hours in the week. The role will involve working at Level 2 with small groups of children and individuals in order to boost levels of attainment, particularly in Maths and English. It is therefore important that the applying candidates have a good command of spoken and written English and a sound knowledge of the Primary Maths framework. You will be given additional responsibilities in school such as; welfare support and meeting with the SENCO to discuss next steps in learning. In order to apply for this role you must be confident in working alongside children in UKS2 and have experience in working in a Primary setting, preferably KS2. The SENCO who is looking to arrange the support, has noted that she has funding to replace a member of staff in school who is leaving and so this will be considered to be a temp to perm role.

  • The second role I am looking to appoint for is a Behaviour Specialist Support Assistant. This position will also be full time. The working day will be split between AM in Year 5 and PM in Year 6 supporting two individual children with SEMH and ADHD. You will be expected to work with the class teacher and SENCO to plan and deliver high quality lesson content which is differentiated to meet the individual needs of the children. As the children are working in the upper juniors, you will have to be confident in your delivery and in your approach to building relationships which are professional and appropriate. This, unlike the above role, is going to be advertised at Level 3 and with this the pay is increased, as is the expectation for the quality of candidate. If you are degree qualified in a core subject or education studies then please apply and do not be put off into thinking you aren't qualified to work at Level 3. This role is also to replace a permanent member of staff and so the SENCO has mentioned she will be taking her time to appoint the right person and then offer a temp to perm contract in school.

If you are interested in one of the roles, or possibly both then please do not hesitate to contact me in the office ASAP. These roles will be shortlisted before the Summer holidays and so i

ARY SCHOOLt is important that you have an up to date CV, have potential referee details from your recent employers and the flexibility to come out of school to interview.

As mentioned in the above specification, this is a challenging inner city primary school where children arrive from socially deprived backgrounds. Behaviour management is very important and the relationship building process is also key. The Head teacher will be happy to support all staff members with behaviour and the policies they use.
