September and COVID-19

The Welsh Medium Primary School in Caerphilly are predicting that they will need extra staff in the new academic year to support the guidelines provided by the Welsh Assembly Government. The school are preparing and planning for teaching to take place in ‘bubbles’ whereby there will be a small ratio of pupils to every teacher and assistant, therefore a greater need for extra staff. Of utmost importance for the school is the management of risks related to COVID-19. Consequently, the school in question have highlighted the importance of having consistent additional staff as ideally, they would like to limit the amount of ‘new faces’ appearing on an ad-hoc basis, therefore the opportunity for a long term placement is promising.

The school have a consistent behaviour policy that all staff must adhere to, however, they welcome new techniques and strategies, so please be confident using your own as well. The school has a Special Education Needs Resource Base and has a high number of pupils with SEN integrated into the mainstream classes. Subsequently, knowledge of additional needs such as autism, ADHD and social and emotional behavioural difficulties is very desirable.

Pre-screening will be in place before any candidate is placed into a booking. Self certification of coronavirus status will be required weekly in order to ensure that all candidates are not imposing risk upon themselves or others.
