Welsh Teaching Assistant

Job description

A primary school in Llanelli are looking for a Welsh speaking teaching assistant to work in the Foundation Phase as a general TA. The head teacher is seeking someone with previous experience of working with a busy Foundation Phase, a CACHE level 2 and experience working with groups of children with additionl learning needs.

The class has 32 pupils, 2 with statements of Mild Learning Difficulties and 1 child without a statement but is showing signs of Autism. The class teacher already has two teaching assistants who work on a one to one basis but the class now requires a full time teaching assistant to work with small groups.

You will be expected to work alongside the class teacher to help plan and prepare group work for Literacy and Numeracy and will be given tasks to complete with small groups of children it ALN. You will also be expected to assess the pupils' attainment and progress on week to week basis.

This role will full time and will be contracted from January - Easter 2018. Interviews will be held immediately followed by trial days at the school

In order to be considered for this position you must:

  • Be fluent Welsh Speaking
  • Have previous experience in the Foundation Phase
  • Have a Child workforce DBS on the update service
  • Be registered with the EWC
