Locations: Merthyr Tydfil, Rhondda Cynon Taf & Caerphilly
Contract: Full Time & Part Time Roles Available
Start Date: September 2026
Pay: Competitive rates – dependent on experience

Are you passionate about working with children and looking to start or build a career in education?

We are currently recruiting enthusiastic and reliable Unqualified Teaching Assistants and Cover Supervisors to work across a range of Primary, Secondary, and SEN schools throughout Merthyr, Rhondda Cynon Taf, and Caerphilly.

This is a fantastic opportunity for individuals who enjoy supporting young people and want to gain valuable classroom experience — no formal teaching qualifications required.

About the Roles

Teaching Assistant

  • Support pupils across a range of ages and abilities, including those with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
  • Assist teachers with classroom activities and lesson delivery.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Cover Supervisor

  • Deliver pre-planned lessons in the absence of the class teacher.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and ensure pupils remain engaged with learning.
  • Supervise whole classes independently.
  • Support students in completing set work and maintaining a productive classroom environment.

We’re looking for individuals who are:

  • Confident, adaptable, and enthusiastic about working with children.
  • Reliable and able to work in different school settings.
  • Strong communicators with good behaviour management skills.
  • Patient, supportive, and approachable.
  • Experience working with young people is desirable but not essential.
  • Welsh speakers are encouraged to apply, though this is not essential.

Requirements

Teaching Personnel can support you in obtaining:

  • Education Workforce Council (EWC) Registration
  • Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service
  • References covering the past two years

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
