Tutors (LAC) - Oldham - immediate start

Job description

Part-time positions for Tutors commencing immediately. These roles will involve working on a 1:1 with young people who have been permanently or temporarily excluded from mainstream school. Young people may have been excluded from mainstream because of a variety of reasons including: extreme challenging behaviours, SEN needs or SEMH needs or teenage pregnancy.

Tuition could take place in the young person’s home, their residential care home, or an agreed public venue.  The young people may have a variety of Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties, and could display challenging behaviour and have barriers to their learning. They could be extremely disengaged with education, and working at much lower levels than expected. Experience with young people of this nature would be beneficial - you must be able to build trust and rapport easily and be able to tap into what motivates them, as well as having the subject knowledge.

Each referral is usually for 8-10 hours per week, and you can take on as few or as many as you wish!

To be considered for this role you must have:

  • Qualified Teacher Status or significant tutoring experience

  • A passion for supporting pupils with significant difficulties

  • The ability to be persistent and support pupils with SEMH

  • have a fully enhanced Child DBS

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
