Job description

We are looking for a tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 9 pupil who requires intervention in core subjects (Maths, English and Science). The student is based in Nottingham City Centre and he requires support within his residential home.

The role will involve offering pastoral and behavioural support where appropriate as the student may present with challenging behaviour at times due to experience trauma throughout his childhood.

Ideal candidates for this role will be:

  • Teachers with experience delivering core subjects, in addition to Functional Skills for lower ability students
  • Someone who is confident to plan and deliver their own sessions using individualised reources
  • Be confident to manage challenging behaviour (both verbal and physical) on a regular basis
  • Have a creative approach, thinking of new ways to innovatively engage a variety of students
  • Be confident to liaise effectively with the foster carer/childrens homes, schools and other professionals including social workers
  • Be willing to create weekly feedback reports so that progress can be tracked and monitored regularly.
  • Able to be responsible for the safety and welfare of the pupil at all times, in addition to having a strong awareness of Child Protection issues (additional training in safeguarding is extremely desirable)

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
