Job description

We are looking for a tutor to work on a 1:1 basis with a Year 11 pupil who requires intervention in Maths and English for the rest of the academic year. The pupil requires 15 hours per week of intervention in the local library (within the Nottingham City area).

The role will involve offering pastoral and behavioural support where appropriate as the student may present with challenging behaviour at times due to experience trauma throughout his childhood.

Ideal candidates for this role will be:

  • Teachers with experience delivering Maths and , in addition to Functional Skills
  • Someone who is confident to plan and implement their own sessions
  • Be confident to manage challenging behaviour (both verbal and physical) on a regular basis
  • Have a creative approach, thinking of new ways to innovatively engage the student
  • Be confident to liaise effectively with the foster carer/childrens homes, schools and other professionals including social workers
  • Be willing to create weekly feedback reports so that progress can be tracked and monitored regularly.
  • Able to be responsible for the safety and welfare of the pupil at all times, in addition to having a strong awareness of Child Protection issues (additional training is desirable but not essential)
