Job description

Teaching Personnel are looking for a 1:1 tutor to work with a female Looked After Pupil who is in Year 10 and lives in the Bassetlaw region. She does not currently have a school place so will require some 1:1 support in the home, on a Monday and Friday initially, with the aim of building up her education hours at a later time. She suffers from Anxiety and Depression, therefore we are looking for someone with experience in dealing with these issues.

The student is bright and capable, and was predicted GCSE Grades 7+, however due to her having significant gaps in her education, she is likely to be working at a lower level currently. We would like a tutor to focus on Literacy and Numeracy initially, then building up to a GCSE pathway.

The ideal candidate for this role will be:

  • A Teacher with either QTS or PTLLS/DTLLS qualifications, OR a confident Teaching Assistant with some experience of planning and delivering your own lessons
  • Experience working with SEN pupils, in particular with those who have Attachment Disorder and Mental Health Difficulties including Depression and Anxiety
  • Confident to work on a 1:1 basis with students who may be very disengaged from education and may present with complex behaviours such as self-harming, absconding or verbal aggression
  • Able to liaise with multi-disciplinary teams including Psychologists, SENCOs, CAMHS to ensure that progress is tracked on a regular basis
  • Someone who is able to boost self-esteem as well as help students to make academic progress
  • Someone confident with delivering Literacy and Numeracy, in addition to GCSE support
