We are looking for tutors to work directly with disadvantaged and vulnerable young people. The role involves supporting pupils either at home or home or within school who are in need of additional support.
The reasons for this support range from additional needs, and if the pupil is Looked After. Your role as a tutor would be to provide education, often alongside a school and/or social workers to support their pupil with alternative provision until a full school place is confirmed for a specialist school if required or within a mainstream school for recent arrivals to the area/ those who are leaving school.
Pupils are often diagnosed with an additional needs, often ASC and SEMH. As a result previous knowledge of working with young people with SEN would be highly beneficial for any potential tutors.
The location for this would vary dependent on the need of the pupil but would be pre-agreed prior to commencement of the tuition. All pupils for this role however will be based in the Rochdale area.
Your role would involve the autonomy to create and design your own lessons based on academic achievement but also include additional emotional support such as increasing confidence, self esteem and building rapport. You will also have the option to increase your working hours dependent on the number of pupils you are able to take on.
The ideal tutor would have:
- Teaching/Tutor Experience
- Patience and determination
- Evidence of creating own resources where required
- Desirable - Experience with SEN
The pupils will be used in either homes or schools in the Rochdale area which has extensive transport links by road, bus, tram or train.
To be successful in your application, you must be able to provide evidence of this as skills and experience.
Please be aware that all applicants will be subject to background checks and will need a current DBS certificate (update service registered). Teaching Personnel can support your application should this be required.
Working hours are between Monday to Friday, 8.30am-3.30pm approximately, but you may be offered additional duties and responsibilities outside of these hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
