Trainee Primary Teaching Assistant

The role:

The role is to work as a general Teaching Assistant in a Foundation phase class supporting the Teacher in a class of 25 pupils. This will include taking small good for numeracy and literacy intervention, helping with lunch duty and any school trips.

The successful candidate:

  • Will need to have minimum A-C in Maths and/or English GCSEs and A Levels.
  • Will ideally, but not essentially, be a Sports, Psychology or English Graduate.
  • Will need to be available Monday- Friday 8:30-4pm
  • Will be confident handling challenging behaviour

Previous experience in schools is not essential as training will be provided.

The school:

There are 445 pupils in 16 classes. These include 56 children in the nursery who attend part-time and eight pupils in the specialist resource unit for pupils from across the local authority who have emotional, social and behavioural difficulties.

Salary:

£9-£10 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
