Trainee Teaching Assistant
From £77 per day (8:15am-3:15pm)

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for Trainee Teaching Assistants in the Cardiff & Vale of Glamorgan area. These positions are available on a full-time basis and will run for the  full academic year starting ASAP.  We are working with multiple schools that have expressed that they are looking for individuals that they can invest in, with training courses being provided and the potential to move into a permanent position with the school after a successful probation period. These roles are available to start immediately and therefore interviews and trial days are being held ASAP. For the right candidate these roles will continue into next academic year where a school contract has the possibility of being secured for you.

What does a Trainee Teaching Assistant do?

  • Be a support function to pupils with Additional Learning Needs
  • Assist class teachers with challenging behaviour
  • Break down tasks and aid learning and understanding of tasks
  • Reading out work to students
  • Take instruction from subject teacher

The successful Trainee Teaching Assistants will be placed within classes/intervention groups of students in KS3 and KS4 who have a range of additional learning needs such as Autism & ADHD. The schools we are working with have outlined that the people that they are looking for does not need direct experience working as a Teaching Assistant before or even with children, however having the right personality and a proactive and positive approach to supporting the lives of young people is a must.  Applicants with a background in care, support work, youth work or sports coaches who have worked with children previously are examples of some careers that carry many transferable skills over to these roles and are highly desirable.

What is required to be a Trainee Teaching Assistant?

  • A passion for supporting young people
  • No formal qualifications are required
  • GCSE in English & Maths are desirable
  • Enhanced DBS available on the update service
  • Registered with the EWC
  • Patient and caring nature
