Tema Teach Support - Wakefield

Job description

We are currently looking for an enthusiastic candidate who is looking to gain experience in a classroom setting working with disadvantaged students who are at risk of exclusion. These students are aged 11 - 16 years and require tailored support to help them to reengage in learning and reach their targets.

The ideal candidate MUST hold the MAPA, Team Teach or equivalent de-escalation qualification and if not, be willing to undergo training to get this.

The role is full time and has the potential to lead to a permanent position, dependent on the success of the applicant within that role. The school is based in Wakefield, it is dedicated to empowering it's pupils who have a range of Social, Emotional and Mental Health issues. These students have been excluded from mainstream education, either temporarily or permanently, and need someone to support them in an Inclusion Support role, either on a 1:1 or small groups basis. There is also a high element of supporting children who do display highly challenging behaviours and have challenging backgrounds, therefore your role will also involve deescalating and managing difficult behavioural situations and be resilient towards this.

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and experience:
* Previous or transferable experience with young people in PRU based settings
* Calm and approachable manor
* Able to deescalate and defuse high tension situations
* Team Teach Trained (we are able to provide this to those without)

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
