Team Teach Teaching Assistant Required in Wigan

Job description

  • Teaching Assistant role within Primary Pupil Referral Unit
  • Immediate start due to increased pupil numbers

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Wigan Primary Pupil Referral Unit who requires a specialised KS2 Teaching Assistant on a full time basis. This role is to start after February half term 2018 and continue on until the end of the academic year. The role would require the Teaching Assistant to support whole class and occasionally as a 1:1 support.

This Wigan school cater for young people who have been excluded from their mainstream school. Pupils ideally will be in this setting for a short stay provision before reintegrating them back into mainstream education. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a passion for implementing a restorative approach to behaviour.

The ideal Teaching Assistant would have;

  • previous experience teaching young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • strong behaviour management skills
  • have sound knowledge of the Primary National Curriculum
  • have an up-to-date Team - Teach qualification
  • have a DBS on the update service

The successful Teaching Assistant will also have a passion for promoting behavioural development in young people and must be able to act as a positive role model to the young people within this setting. You will need to be proactive, enthusiastic and have a determination to succeed.
