Job description

Teaching Personnel are urgently looking for Teaching Assistants to work for an Alternative Provider of Education based all over Leicstershire and Nottinghamshire. The provision are looking for 3 new Teaching Assistants in the Leicstershire area. The role is due to start ASAP.

The provision caters for students aged 5 - 19 years old. The role will involve working with disaffected young people who have not coped in mainstream education. You will be required to teach them on a One to One basis, in small groups & within classes of vocational courses. You will be required to implement short & long term interventions, through to full time delivery and management of education for a young person. Predominantly the students are of primary age range however there may be some secondary referrals as well.

Your role will be to work 1:1 on a personalised timetable for each student, following schemes of work and planning your own resources (although some resources will be available and you will have the direct support of a line manager).

We are looking for people based in the Leicstershire and Nottinghamsire area with a full driving license that would be happy to travel between sites.

The ideal candidate:

  • At least 2 years of experience ideally within education or working with vulnerable children and/or adults
  • Level 3 Teaching Assistant Qualification OR a Degree related to Education
  • Full Driving License and access to a car (ESSENTIAL)
  • Previous experience in an education, youth or residential setting with children or adults
  • Additional CPD such as Autism Awareness, Team Teach or Safeguarding
  • A nurturing and calming attitude
  • Knowledge of Makaton, PECS or BSL (Desirable but NOT essential)
