Teaching Assistant wanted to work in a PRU for September start!

This vacancy has now expired.

Job description

A Pupil Referral Unit requires experienced teaching assistants to support across the KS3 and KS4 classrooms within their site in Coventry starting after the summer holidays in September. This school caters for young people who are unable to access the mainstream education and mainstream classroom due to their social and emotional needs.

The young people at this school can display challenging behaviours that are shown through verbal and sometimes physical aggression. Experience working with young people who display challenging behaviours is desirable and will benefit when working with the young people within the school.

The teaching assistants may be supporting within class or, if more suited, with the outreach team supporting young people with their social and emotional development in the community. This position is due to start in September 2018 due to the increase in pupil numbers at the start of the new year.

It would be desirable for the teaching assistant to have previous experience supporting young people academically who are not engaged with their education. It would also be desirable for the teaching assistant to have relevant verbal and physical de-escalation training such as team - teach. Teaching Personnel are able to provide relevant training if needed.

The ideal candidate would have experience working with pupils with challenging behaviour, and someone from a sporting background would be ideal. The role would be perfect for a graduate, who is looking to get into education. Candidates from a Youth Work/Support Work background would also definitely be considered.
