Teaching Assistant Vacancy supporting a pupil in Reception

Teaching Personnel are currently working exclusively alongside a welcoming one-form entry Primary School in the PR5 area of Preston. SLT at this school have an excellent reputation in the area and they have worked hard to maintain exemplary behaviour in school. The Headteacher of this wonderful school is looking to source a Specialist Teaching Assistant to support a young boy in their Reception class who often displays challenging behaviour. The young boy requires 1:1 support in order to maximise attainment, a practitioner with experience building rapport with 'hard to reach' pupils is essential for this role.

The child's needs have not yet been determined however the child is behind their classmates with Literacy and Speech and Language skills. The ideal candidate will have experience working alongside children with challenging behaviour and also able to differentiate for varying abilities.

This will be a full time role working 5.5 hours per day. Pay rates vary from £9 - £10 per hour depending on experience. The school are looking for a candidate who is Level 2 qualified or above and experience working within an Education based setting is essential. This role will initially begin on a supply basis however there is the view for this role to go permanent dependant on how well the child engages to the support.

Having spoken with the Headteacher and other members of SLT a number of times it is clear she is a committed Leader who only wants what is best for her school. Her staff speak highly of her and she is supportive of her staff team.
