Do you hold additional additional training in PECS, Team Teach and/or Moving and Handing

Do you consider yourself to have excellent communication skills?

If the answer is yes, then this is the role for you...

We are currently looking for experienced SEN teaching assistant to work at one of our Primary schools in Bradford to start as soon as possible with the opportunity to become a permanent member of staff.

The pupils you will be working with are in reception and have Autism and Global Developmental Delay. You will be required to support these pupils and reengaged them as fully a possible back in to education. Your role will include nurture and offer additional support with communication, including those pupils with a mechanical system of communication and PECS. You may also be required to use British Sign Language and/or Makaton, (a form of sign language for SEN pupils) so training in either of these would be beneficial.

You will have strong interpersonal skills in order to communicate with families, carers and a multidisciplinary team of teaching staff, social workers, speech and language therapists and educational psychologists. You will be organised, patient and confident, with a sound understanding of meeting the social, emotional and mental health needs of young people with Special Educational Needs.

Experience or training in the following is also desirable:

  • Picture Exchange Communication (PECS)
  • Makaton or BSL (to any level)
  • Autism Awareness/ASC Training
  • Team Teach
  • Moving and Handling

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
