Special Educational Needs Learning Support Assistant, Swanley, Kent

A unique opportunity has come up at a well established special needs Academy in Swanley. This school provides education for children aged 7 - 19 with a wide range of needs spanning moderate learning difficulties, severe autism, speech and language and behavioural difficulties.

This is a full time, long term position starting after the February half term, which could become a permanent role for the right person.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Previous experience working in SEN, either within a mainstream school or SEN school
  • Understanding of autism and how to work with children with autism
  • Previous experience of using either PECS or Makaton is desirable
  • Recent safeguarding, child protection or Team Teach training is also desirable
  • DBS registered on the Update Service or be willing to complete a new one asap
  • Full time availability from Monday 25th February 2019
