Job description

Full time position for a Teaching Assistant commencing in September 2017. The position is part-time and initially temporary, for the first term September - October, however there is the possibility of permanent for the right candidate.

Teaching Personnel are currently working on behalf of a 'good' special school in Rochdale. The school is a secondary school which currently has 253 pupils enrolled. The setting caters for pupils with a wide range of needs including: moderate, severe or profound multiple learning difficulties. In its most recent 2016 inspection the school was graded as 'good' with outstanding features by OFSTED. Due to the specific needs of the pupils the ideal Teaching Assistant will have an understanding of who to cater for children with SEN.

The role will involve working in collaboration a qualified Teacher to support the holistic development of pupils with SEN. The ideal teaching assistant will have experience of working within a special needs setting and delivering interventions to pupils with SEN. We would also welcome applications from less experienced individuals who can demonstrate a genuine passion for supporting the optimal development of pupils with SEN.

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

  • Experience working with pupils with SEN
  • Desirably Team-Teach trained (can be provided)
  • Experience working within a special needs setting
  • Experience delivering interventions designed to encourage the optimal development of pupils with SEN

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
