Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Rochdale - September 2019

A Specialist Setting located in Rochdale is currently looking to recruit an SEN Teaching Assistant to work with challenging pupils with ASC and SEMH needs. This role will commence in September 2019 and will be a full time position which involve working Monday - Friday 8.30am - 3.30pm.

The school itself is an SEN School which caters for pupils across the Rochdale Borough who have generic learning difficulties. The pupils who attend this School may have a variety of needs including: MLD, SLD, SEMH and those with significant emotional difficulties.

As a Teaching Assistant you will be expected to build positive working relationships with pupils, parents and staff members. You will be based in various classes throughout the school providing support to the classroom teachers as and when directed. Due to the nature of the needs of the pupils applicants who have worked within a school environment, care home or residential home would be desirable. Applicants who have extensive personal experience would also be looked upon favourably. Also, due to the pupils needs they can sometimes exhibit signs of challenging behaviour the ideal Teaching Assistant will have experience of managing challenging behaviours effectively.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (highly desirable)

- Behavioural and restraint training (desirable can provided)

- A passion for supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH

- The ability to form positive working relationships

- Experience working with young people or vulnerable adults who can exhibit signs of challenging behaviour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
