Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Rochdale

Job description

A Specialist Setting located in Rochdale  are currently looking to recruit a Level 2 or Level 3  Teaching Assistant for a September 2019 start. This position is full time and will involve working 8.30am – 3.30pm and successful Teaching Assistant will not be expected to work in school holidays.

The school itself is a large secondary SEN School which is located close to the centre of Rochdale. The school provides education for pupils 11 – 16 with a range of needs including: pupils with moderate learning difficulties (MLD), severe learning difficulties (SLD) and pupils with profound multiple learning difficulties (PMLD).

As a Teaching Assistant you will be expected to build positive working relationships with pupils, parents and staff members. You will be based in various classes throughout the school providing support to the classroom teachers as and when directed. Due to the nature of the needs of the pupils applicants who have worked within a school environment or in a care home would be desirable. Also, due to the pupils needs they can sometimes exhibit signs of challenging behaviour the ideal Teaching Assistant will have experience of managing challenging behaviours effectively.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will have:

- A Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (highly desirable)

- Behavioural and restraint training (desirable can provided)

- A passion for supporting pupils with SEN and SEMH

- The ability to form positive working relationships

- Experience working with pupils with SEN in some capacity

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
