Teaching Assistant (SEN) - Oldham

Job description

Full time, position commencing as soon as possible for a teaching assistant with SEN experience at a Specialist Provision located in Oldham. The setting provides education for pupils who have a variety of SEN needs including: ASC, MLD or PMLD.

This role will involve working in collaboration with a classroom teacher to support their holistic development of pupils with SEN. At the moment the position is initially temporary in the first instance, however there is an opportunity for permanent for the right candidate. The main aim of the setting is to integrate pupils back into mainstream education wherever possible. Due to the specific needs of the pupils it will be ideal for the teaching assistant to have a considerable amount of personal or professional experience working with young people adults with SEN.

The ideal teaching assistant will have:

  • Experience working with and delivering interventions to pupils who display challenging behaviour
  • Desirably Team- Teach trained (Teaching Personnel provide training)
  • An in-depth understanding and awareness of the needs of pupils with SEN
