Teaching Personnel have an exciting opportunity to join a rapidly expanding SEN school in Devizes. We are currently seeking a number of Learning Support Assistants to join this school on a full-time basis.

The school is specialised in educating pupils with various SEN needs, such as Learning Difficulties, Physical Disabilities and other associated needs such as ASC.

The students will have all been identified as having complex and additional needs and will have an individualised curriculum based on their specific needs.

This is an ideal opportunity for anyone who is fancying a change in career or if you have a keen interest in special needs.

Experience is preferred but not necessary.

Previous experience of looking after children would be an advantage however a can-do attitude and commitment to the children and your team is equally as important.

Purpose of Role

  • Supporting class Senior LSA’s and Teachers with the preparation of resources to meet the personalised learning intentions of allocated students.
  • Providing 1:1 support under the supervision of the class Teacher for the delivery of skills-based learning.
  • To use a range of communication strategies including Makaton to support communication with students with a range of complex needs.
  • To work with the Head of Student Support, Behaviour and Welfare Support Leads to support the social and emotional needs of young people
  • Work closely with class Teacher to report on progress using an evidence-based approach

Main Duties

  • To enable students to learn by; understanding their learning goals and targets; enable them to practice and learn new skills and challenge them to be as independent as possible
  • To be involved in the provision of all aspects of support necessary that will ensure the students wellbeing and ability to function and engage in learning.
  • To provide the highest standards of holistic care and attention for the students by understanding the guidelines and advice provided by the multidisciplinary team and the individuals own preferences and wishes.
  • To assist in the provision of a safe and stimulating environment and activities for students which will challenge and enable them to learn and practice their skills.
  • To understand and fully implement Safeguarding policies and procedures.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
