Teaching Personnel are seeking a Teaching Assistant on a full time basis in September 2019

Our client school is based in Girlington, Bradford. The school is currently seeking 1:1 Support for September 2019 - supporting the most vulnerable pupils to engage with learning and improve their independence and self-management skills.

The school is situated on two sites approximately 0.2 miles apart in BD8; a City Farm site, which offers accreditations in rural studies, horticulture, and animal care. The second site, referred to as the Youth Hub, focuses on BTEC accreditations in sports, leisure and music production.

The school provides education for pupils with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and associated behavioural difficulties. The school is registered to admit 110 pupils aged between 11 and 19 years. Some pupils only attend for specific qualifications that the school offers, such as land-based studies or construction. Over 70% of pupils come from disadvantaged communities.

It will be your role to work with colleagues to effectively deliver activities in a creative and engaging manner. You will work closely with pupils to identify and overcome barriers to learning, differentiating to meet specific needs. You will be working with vulnerable young people with complex needs who can often display verbal or physically challenging behaviours.

The successful applicant will:

  • Support the school's vision, ethos and values that are embedded in the day-to-day and long-term running of the provision
  • Have the flexibility to work across both sites, including practical work on the City Farm
  • Be able to work successfully with pupils with challenging behaviour
  • Have the ability to work constructively as part of a team
  • Communicate effectively at all levels i.e. Staff, pupils, home and professionals
  • Contribute to the development of young people and the community
  • Uphold principles and values of honesty, respect, hospitality, compassion, self-discipline, and creativity
  • Have a basic understanding of child development and learning
  • Hold a general understanding of national/foundation stage curriculum and other basic learning programmes/strategies

You must be available on a full time basis in September 2019, and have a commitment to working with young people with SEMH needs.
