Teaching Assistant – Rochdale

A larger than average, comprehensive secondary school in Rochdale are currently looking to appoint a confident and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their support team ASAP on a full-time temporary basis.

Due to a large pupil intake this academic year, the secondary school located just north of Rochdale town centre are requiring the support of a Teaching Assistant to work closely with identified pupils in Year 7 who are struggling to engage with their studies.

The group of pupils are from disadvantaged backgrounds and possess some challenging behaviour, as such, the school are looking to recruit a Teaching Assistant who will be confident in dealing with this and has previous experience working with disadvantaged or challenging young people.

Role and Responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant position:

-          Full time Teaching Assistant – starting in November to January initially

-          Likely to be required for the full academic year

-          Supporting a group of pupils in Year 7 who are struggling to engage with studies

-          Delivering tailored learning activities to help engagement and attainment in core subjects

-          Working closely with the school SENCO and pastoral team

Applicant requirements from the school for the role of Teaching Assistant:

-          Able to work independently with a group of Year 7 pupils, with guidance from the school

-          Previous experience working with disadvantaged young people e.g. youth work, care work etc.

-          A strong role model for pupils who are disengaged with their studies

-          Able to build good relationships with children

-          Dynamic and flexible in your approach to meet a range of needs

-          A passion for helping young people reach their full potential
