Teaching assistant required for Bury intervention post

Teaching Personnel are working in partnership with a Bury Secondary Pupil Referral Unit who requires a specialised KS3 Teaching Assistant on a full time basis to work at their Radcliffe site. This role is due to begin after May half term 2018 and continue on until the end of the academic year. This position is covering a vacancy so there is a high likeliness this position will go permanent from September 2018. The role will be in a Youth work capacity where you will be doing social and emotional intervention, as well as general teaching assistant duties.

This Bury provision caters for young people who have been excluded from their mainstream school. Pupils ideally will be in this provision on a short stay basis before reintegrating back into mainstream education. The ideal Teaching Assistant will have a passion for implementing a restorative approach to behaviour.

The ideal Teaching Assistant would have;

  • previous experience supporting young people with social, emotional and mental health needs
  • strong behaviour management skills
  • have sound knowledge of the knowledge of the secondary national Curriculum
  • ideally have an up-to-date Team- teach qualification
  • have a child workforce DBS registered on the update service

The successful Teaching Assistant will also have a passion for promoting positive behavioural development in young people and must be able to act as a positive role model to the students within this setting. You will need to be proactive, enthusiastic and have a determination to succeed.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
