If you are a person with a caring personality and is passionate about child welfare, but needs a flexible working life, we have the role for you.
Teaching Personnel hire Teaching Assistants for SEN schools all over Greater Manchester.
When working with Early years and primary age children with SEN needs, it's necessary to have a nurturing and patient personality to help the children develop to meet their full potential at school, and become more independent socially and emotionally.
The curriculum at SEN schools has a much more active and kinaesthetic approach to learning, offering lots of physical, vocational and sensory activities which suit the children's learning styles more than the usual textbook approach.
The needs of the children can vary, such as severe learning disabilities, profound and moderate learning disabilities and autism spectrum condition. The children may also need mobility or fine motor assistance, personal care and therapy depending on their conditions (speech and language, sensory, physio etc). Teaching Assistants may be required to assist children through 1:1 or therapy sessions with trained professionals.
The general role will mainly include acting as a support to the teacher within the classroom, monitoring and controlling student behaviour and helping them to be involved and engaged in their classroom activities. Early years Teaching Assistants can expect to assist the children in a number of holistic and sensory activities to aid their development. You may also be required to take part in break and lunchtime monitoring where necessary.
The work is mainly on a supply basis and can include day-to-day, week-by-week, or sick/maternity cover but can also offer long term cover and full time opportunities. If you are looking to work reduced hours or on a part time basis, Teaching Assistant hours are around 6 hours per day, between 8.30am - 3.30pm (school hours).
This is a very rewarding role and suitable for some with a passion for childcare, an enthusiasm for education and a need for job satisfaction.
