Job description

Part time position for a Teaching Assistant in an 'Outstanding' special school situated in Ashton, Tameside. The role commences as soon as possible and runs untill the end of the academic year. This role will suit a Teaching Assistant who is looking for part time flexible hours and is able to work as and when the Setting require.

The school is a Secondary Special Needs School which provides education for pupils 11- 16 who have a range of needs which may include: complex learning difficulties, Autism, Down syndrome and cerebral palsy.

The role will involve working in collaboration with the Classroom Teacher to support the ongoing development of pupils with SEN. Ideally the Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working within a special needs setting (highly desirable)
  • An in-depth understanding of the importance of differentiation and assuring that learning is accessible to all pupils
  • A commitment to assuring the optimal development of pupils with complex needs

All applicants will require the appropriate qualification and training for this role. For teacher roles, we require a formally recognised teaching qualification. For Support staff our minimum requirement is GCSE English & Maths (A-C) or equivalent.
