Teaching Assistant (PMLD/Complex need)

Job description

Teaching Personnel and actively recruiting for a number of PMLD Teaching Assistants to work within a Specialist School. The position is initially temporary and commencing as soon as possible. The role will involve covering as and when as the setting require, so would suit an indvidual who is looking to work flexible hours.

The setting is situated on the outskirts of Bristol and caters for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) who are aged 7- 19. In its most recent 2016 inspection the School was graded 'good' with outstanding features by OFSTED.

The role will involve working in collaboration with a Fully Qualified Teacher to support and encourage the holistic development of pupils with PMLD. Due to the nature of role the school require an experienced Teaching Assistant who has experience in working with SEN in some capacity.

Ideally the PMLD Teaching Assistant will have:

  • Experience working a special school
  • Ideally Team-Teach trained (teaching personnel provide training)
  • Have an in-depth knowledge understanding of safeguarding procedures
  • Experience working with pupils with PMLD
  • An in-depth understanding of how to de-escalate challenging behaviour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay.
