Job description

Teaching Assistant Opportunity

The SENCO of a large school in Blackpool is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to support two children in KS2 working below age related expectations.

Competitive rate of pay – GBP285 weekly wage minimum

Expected working hours- 30 plus the potential of welfare cover at lunchtime

TA3 role (only equivalent qualifications and degrees accepted)

Said school are working with the agency in order to recruit a specialist support assistant to work from 4th November 2019. The role will be to continue for the foreseeable future and has the potential to move on to a permanent contract (depending on the allocated funding through the Local Authority). The child requiring support is high on the Autism Spectrum and has been diagnosed and given additional support through a tailored EHCP. The school has worked over the last year to ensure the child’s needs have been accommodated for, and the Curriculum has been differentiated to meet individual needs. As part of this role you will be expected to manage routine and behaviour so it is important that you have experience of working in UKS2 and alongside children with ASC. Additional training is preferred but experience is vital in the shortlisting for the school. You MUST have previously worked alongside primary or secondary aged children and you MUST have prior experience working 121 alongside children with ASC.

This is a specialist role and not a general TA. We are not looking to recruit just anybody! We need the right person, with the right attitude and the right experience. If you feel this may be you, then please contact me for further information. The school are keen to shortlist the week commencing 14th October, interview next week with the view to appointing ready for the successful applicant to take up the role after the October half term.

On the whole, there is a higher number of children in school with special educational needs and so the school is well equipped with a non-teaching SENCO who dedicates her time to planning and supporting children with EHCPs and additional needs. The successful candidate will work closely with the SENCO in school to provide a high quality tailored curriculum which allows the said child to make rapid progress through the academic year.
