A city centre based college is looking to recruit a teaching assistant to start with them during the first half term of the new academic year. The successful teaching assistant will be required from appointment in September (interviews and meetings to take place at the end of August) for the remainder of the whole academic year. This appointment will initially be via Teaching Personnel on a supply basis with the opportunity to progress onto a college contract from January onwards.

The role of the teaching assistant at this highly reputable college is to fulfil a full 360 degree role including supporting students in lessons, assisting any students who are identified as having SEN and providing dedicated tutoring as required in conjunction with your own subject strength(s). The successfully appointed teaching assistant should therefore be adaptable, confident and motivated to succeed taking on the wide variety of positions and supporting wherever required.

This role will suit an individual with prior experience of supporting within a college, university or secondary school environment as a teaching assistant, behaviour mentor, learner mentor or cover supervisor or someone who is looking into a teaching position in the future.

Key aspects of this teaching assistant role:

  • Full time teaching assistant required starting in September as required
  • Interviews and meeting take place in the last 2 weeks of August as the college enrols and starts the new academic year
  • Pay will range between GBP1200 - GBP1500 per month depending upon hours undertaken and experience levels
  • 1 year fixed term role for the successful teaching assistant progressing onto and earning a college-based contract from January

The college is located in the central Manchester area well within commuting distance from the central train stations, local Metrolink stops and near to Salford, Chorlton, Stretford and Didsbury. It is therefore easy for any teaching assistants to get to this college utilising the public transport network. The college also has an on-site secure car park for use by all staff. Being an over subscrived college of choice, it boasts excellent facilities and is housed in a large, new building with the latest technology.

The college are looking ahead to the new academic year and are keen to recruit a confident, motivated teaching assistant that is looking to work in a supportive college environment with students aged 16 – 18years old. This role is a great opportunity for a graduate, former teaching assistant or youth worker looking for more responsibility and experience in supporting older students who are engaged with their learning. Any graduates with any relevant or related work experience are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
