KS2 Teaching Assistant

I am currently working with a GOOD primary school in the North Leeds area near Coockridge, who are looking to appoint two additional Teaching Assistants to support with their KS2 classes once schools re-open, to support pupils in their return to school.

As schools have been closed for over six weeks with very little formal teaching taking place, pupils will be faced with a number of challenges when they return to school both emotionally and educationally. Working as a Teaching Assistant you will be required to support pupils transition back into the classroom by having a calm and reassuring manner, liaising with parents and carers about students behaviours and emotions and by being encouraging and pro-active with all pupils. Learners will have become accustomed to the relaxed environment of being at home and may face challenges returning to a more formal education structure.

You will be working in either Year 3 or Year 5 class with one other teaching assistant and the class teacher, prior to schools closing pupils behaviour was overall good and they were able to settle and complete work independently, however there were some occasions where behaviour became loud and disruptive. You will therefore be required to support and monitor students so that during breaks and subject changes they do not become disengaged. You will also be required to reinforce social distancing measures within the classroom and at break times.

Ideal Candidate

  • Be available to start work as soon as schools re-open
  • Hold at least a Level 2 or 3 qualification
  • Have a calm and patient manner with the ability to think on your feet
  • Be engaging and enthusiastic towards students progress at all levels
  • Have experience working with children and young people
  • Be looking to pursue a career in education
  • Be willing to undergo any relevant and necessary training
  • Have the right to work in the UK
  • Hold an advanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one, Teaching Personnel can support with this.

With schools unable to do their own recruitment for long term positions starting in September effectively, there has never been a better time to register with Teaching Personnel. If you think the above position is what you have been looking for or would like to find out more about this position and the other opportunities available through Teaching Personnel, then please apply via the link below or contact Ravin the Leeds Primary Team.

All applicants will require the appropriate qualifications and training for this role as well aas the Right to Work in the UK. Please see teachingpersonnel.com/faqs for details.
All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
