Teaching Assistant

Dorchester

Part time / Term time only

September 2023

We are seeking a friendly, professional Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support on a part-time basis within one of our partner schools based in Dorchester.

The role will involve assisting with student supervision at break and lunchtimes. Forming positive relationships with specified students by supporting their learning in and out of the classroom with group or 1:1 work in guidance of the teacher.

This role is a great opportunity for a graduate, former teaching assistant, care or youth worker looking for more responsibility and experience in supporting students. Any cover supervisors or graduates with any relevant or related work experience are encouraged to apply for immediate consideration.

The ideal Teaching Assistant will be a calm, reliable individual who can work 1:1 with students. Some of these students may present with challenging behaviour, and therefore you must be confident working with this.

To be considered for the position of teaching assistant with Teaching Personnel, you will:

  • Be passionate about teaching children
  • Be patient, caring and engaging
  • Be enthusiastic about education
  • Be supportive and helpful
  • Confident with Maths, Science and English to a GCSE level
  • Hold or be prepared to undergo an Enhanced DBS check- Child only

Duties will include:

  • Developing the character of the young people
  • Boosting self-confidence and self-esteem
  • Being a positive role model for students
  • Supporting inside and outside the classroom
  • Providing 1-2-1 and small group support
  • Safeguarding pupils and protecting their well-being

Details of the role:

  • Full time role Monday-Friday
  • Working with students aged 11-18 years
  • Competitive salary from £11.83 per hour
  • Weekly pay via PAYE
  • FREE CPD training

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
