Teaching Personnel are working in collaboration with a dynamic Derby Secondary school to recruit an experienced Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC) Teaching Assistant to work within their support provisions till the end of the academic year.

  • Full time ASC Teaching Assistant required
  • Opportunity to work in a progressive Secondary school based in Derby
  • Must have prior experience working ASC, Moderate Learning Difficulties and Special Educational Needs.
  • Earn up to £65+ per day dependant upon experience

This diverse secondary school based in Derby has a higher than average rate of SEN alongside Pupil Premium, with just over 700 pupils on roll, aged 11-16, there is ongoing SEN training provided for all members of due to the high levels of identified pupils. You ca expect to join a devoted staff team, working under the guidance of senior leadership and the SEND team.

"We believe that well-trained and well informed staff is the building block of a successful happy inclusive school. SEND training for staff should be an ongoing programme to ensure that staffs are up to date with the latest developments in SEND and the SENCO is designing such a programme for the coming school year."

  • Provide day to day classroom support to pupils on a 1:1 or in small groups establishing good rapports with pupils, acting as a role model and acting on all needs as required
  • Encourage pupils to interact with others and engage in activities led by the teacher
  • Help to plan lessons by preparing materials and resources
  • Have the confidence to address conflict and challenging behaviour
