Learning support assistant – Birmingham to start in September - potential to go into a permanent role. 

This special school in Birmingham is an outstanding and forwarding looking school for pupils aged 4-19 years with severe and complex needs. This includes pupils with severe learning difficulties, profound and multiple learning difficulties. Many of the pupils have additional needs; this can be autism, challenging behaviour, physical, sensory difficulties, and social and emotional needs.

The Candidate:

Ideal applicants will have previous experience working with complex behaviour or challenging needs professionally. Without professional experience any personal experience with the following could help the candidate succeed in this role:

  • Psychology
  • Youth/Community work experience
  • Care worker
  • Challenging behaviour within family
  • Mentoring 
  • SEN Experience
  • Police Experience

Applicants will be working in a classroom supporting teachers and fellow support workers on a 1:1 or 2:1 basis with pupils, so should have a passion for mentoring pupils closely through their differentiated curriculum.

Teaching Personnel do offer many development courses through our CPD Academy, such as Autism Awareness, Safeguarding and Team Teach to help support any successful candidates within this environment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
