Teaching Assistant - to work with special needs child

A primary school located in Sydenham are currently recruiting for 2-3 Behaviour Teaching Assistants to work 1-1 to support pupils with ASC and challenging behaviour in the Autism unit.

About the role:

  • SEN Teaching Assistant
  • Supporting a pupil with challenging behaviour and ASC
  • Long Term Full Time (Monday to Friday 8:30 - 15:30)
  • Start Immediately
  • Working in a small class with pupils led by a class teacher and supported by another 2 Teaching Assistants

About the School:

This lovely three form entry primary School in Sydenham has an ASD unit that supports pupils on the ASD spectrum.

All the pupils in the unit have a Statement of Special Educational Needs (SEN) or an Educational Health Care Plan (EHC).

It has strong transport links; a 5 minute walk to Sydenham hill station and Forrest hill station.

The ideal candidate / desired skills and experience:

  • Available to start immediately
  • Commit to a full time long term role (5 days a week)
  • PECS and Makaton experience
  • Team Teach (or equivalent positive handling training)
  • ASD/SEMH/SEN experience
  • Engaging personality
  • The ability to build strong relationships
  • Sports background
  • Teaching assistant/support work
  • Youth work / Support Work / Care Work
