We are currently looking to appoint passionate and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistants to join a specialist school based in the Salisubry area. This is a challenging and rewarding role where you will support pupils in meeting their personal, academic and pastoral needs at each stage of their schooling.

This is an 'Outstanding' special school which caters for pupils aged 4-19 with various needs such as Autism (ASC), Learning Difficulties and Complex Needs. The school offers an education which exposes pupils’ to a broad, balanced, differentiated and relevant curriculum, presents them with challenges in which creativity is fostered and which is based on the essential elements of the National Curriculum. 

The school has an excellent adult to pupil ratio with class sizes of a maximum of 7 students.

Previous special school experience is not necessary for this role however it would be beneficial for you to have experience working with children OR with adults who have special needs. If you have a passion for making a real difference to the lives of children and young people with special needs, then this could be a great role for you. The school is happy to consider part-time candidates.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teachers to deliver highly personalised inclusive lessons.
  • Willingness to develop a good understanding of the school’s curriculum.
  • Working closely with other professionals and families.
  • Supporting the creation of a climate for success for pupils with special educational needs and disabilities to learn and develop.
  • A resilient and instinctive approach in meeting pupils’ needs.

Requirements for the role:

  • GCSE (C or above) Maths and English.
  • Ability to work flexibly, throughout the whole school, meeting the needs of pupils in a range of contexts.
  • Have a passion for working with children in education.
  • Have the right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
