Reception Teaching Assistant role

The SENCO and Headteacher of a reputable Primary School in Lancaster are keen to secure a strong support assistant to join their welcoming team in order to provide 1:1 support to a child joining their school. Said child will join the school from 22nd February in Reception class. The little girl will initially be in school from 9:00-12:00 phasing up one hour per day each week, and the role after five weeks will become full time. The child is non-verbal therefore a candidate with experience in Speech & Language would be ideal. In addition, there will be toileting/personal care involved in this role.
The school is located closeby to public transport links and there is also free parking available. The department has a full intake and so you will be expected to work alongside 30 children. The class teacher in the department is very experienced as are the two other support assistants in the class. As part of your support, you will be expected to work alongside children with varying abilities and language skills. You will be involved in the development of an IEP as the child will be new to school and gain assessment detail in order track progress. On arrival, you will be given a full induction, and be made to feel welcome in your new role.
So, what are the requirements to apply for this role?
Level 2 or above Teaching Assistant qualification and or an equivalent certificate.
Recent experience working alongside children in an Early Years or Nursery setting
A hard-working and committed attitude to raising standards in the class room.
Full time availability!
The role is to start on 22nd February 2021, continuing until at least July 2021 on a full time basis . The SENCO is particularly interested in candidates who are keen to secure a permanent role, and someone who would be interested in supporting the child throughout the time in school up to Year 6. The expected working hours for this role once the child is transitioned in full time are from 9:00-15:15 every day. The successful candidate will interview with the Head teacher and SENCO as well as spend some time in the class room with the children. Rates of pay are competitive starting at GBP10-GBP11 per hour paid into your bank account on a weekly basis.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
