This position is Monday to Friday during term time and a long-term role. A years’ experience of working with SEN needs is desired.
Your job role will involve assisting the pupil with their work, making it exciting and interesting for them. The class teacher will plan the students work with the help from you informing them on how they have coped with similar work and how the previous day had gone. Learning will need to be made fun for the student by using additional resources such as counting counters, learning games and cards. Learning will need to be broken up by doing other activities including arts and crafts, music and reading time in the afternoon where you read a story to the student, so they go home relaxed. You will be in a separate room to the rest of the class which allows the student to have a more relaxed and personal learning structure. At breaktimes your student will join the rest of the class to help the development of their social and play skills. All the supplies you need will be provided and set up in the room for you. Each day’s plan will depend on how the student is feeling that day so you will need to be flexible and creative.
