Job description

Teaching Personnel work closely with schools in the Helston area and are currently looking to recruit a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant to work in a year 6 class.

The role will be to begin after Christmas. We understand that notice periods may vary, and the school can be flexible around the right candidate.

Within this class, your role will be to:

  • Assist small groups of children with mixed learning ability reach their potential
  • Support 1:1 with any child who may need additional help
  • Occasionally teach your own class
  • Cover planned absences
  • Support the class teacher
  • Encourage learning

To become a HLTA, you must have:

  • Previous classroom experience
  • Any relevant training/qualifications
  • Previous experience working alongside children
  • GCSE or equivalent in Maths/English
  • A full UK Driving Licence
  • References from your two most recent employers

You will be required to provide us with your full career history and be able to provide references from your two most recent employers. You will also need to have a QTS and be able to provide us with your QTS number. As you will be travelling to different schools it is desired that you have access to your own vehicle.  You will also need a Child Workforce DBS registered on the update service, if you do not have one this can be completed during your recruitment.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
